Almine Rech Announces Collaboration with the Consejo Leonora Carrington and rossogranada
ARTnews reports that Almine Rech has become the exclusive partner in France of the Consejo Leonora Carrington and rossogranada, giving its network of galleries in Paris, London, Shanghai, New York, and Brussels access to works by Surrealist artist Leonora Carrington. The collaboration will debut with a bronze sculpture cast from a life model Carrington made in 2010, to be presented at Art Basel in June, followed by a solo exhibition at Almine Rech’s Paris Turenne space in September. Organized with the Consejo Leonora Carrington (founded by Carrington’s son, Pablo Weisz Carrington) and the advisory firm Rossogranada, the Paris show will include paintings, drawings, sculptures, tapestries, and writings. The announcement highlights Carrington’s late-career focus on bronze figures and masks in the final 17 years of her life before her death in 2011, including La Hija del Minotauro (The Minotaur’s Daughter, 2010), linked to her 1953 painting And Then We Saw the Daughter of the Minotaur at the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
