Art Basel’s Parent Company Plans New ‘Ideas Festival’—and More Art Industry News

Artnet News reports that Art Basel’s parent company, MCH Group, is backing a new initiative called the Futurific Institute, planned to launch in Basel in 2028 as a large-scale “global ideas festival” bringing together figures from art, technology, business, and politics. The project is backed by billionaires James and Kathryn Murdoch along with MCH Group, and is positioned as an expansion of Art Basel’s influence without creating another art fair. Separately, Art Dubai postponed its 20th edition by a month due to the escalating war in Iran, rescheduling it to May 14–17 at Madinat Jumeirah, with some international exhibitors already withdrawing. The roundup also notes that Liste will host 106 galleries at Messe Basel for its 31st edition on June 15–21, and that the inaugural Paris International Milano will run April 18–21 at Palazzo Galbani with 34 galleries alongside Miart and Milano Art Week.
