Art Show in London Canceled Over Allegations of Antisemitism from Pro-Israel Group

ARTnews reported that a London exhibition at Delta House Gallery was canceled after UK Lawyers for Israel objected to drawings by artist Matthew Collings that the Telegraph described as “dripping with Jew-hate.” The show, titled “Drawings Against Genocide,” had previously been presented in Margate and became controversial over imagery described by the Jerusalem Post as depicting Sotheby’s owner Patrick Drahi, a French-Israeli businessman, “eating babies alive,” and other drawings portraying Jews as devils or standing on skulls with slogans such as “we love death.” The London presentation had been scheduled for May 16–24 at a gallery space within Delta House Studios, but Pineapple Corporation chairman Tom Berglund said the owners were unaware the exhibition was arranged without consultation. Collings disputed the characterization of the Drahi drawing on Instagram, arguing it was satire about art being used to “whitewash Zionist atrocity,” and stated, “Zionism is not Jewishness.”
