Both London’s Sid Motion and Beers Galleries Are Closing, Citing Economic Pressures
London dealer Sid Motion will close Sid Motion gallery in South Bermondsey when its fall exhibition ends, citing economic pressures and a desire not to compromise support for her artists. The gallery’s 85th and final exhibition, “That Which Appears,” co-curated by Motion with Olivia Bax and James Fisher, closes October 31; it is also scheduled to appear at the Millennium Gallery, Sheffield Museums, in 2028. ARTnews also reports that Beers Gallery, founded in 2012 by Kurt Beers, is shutting down after citing market shifts and economic pressures, with a solo show by Andrew Salgado on view through August 15 and a final group show, “So This Is Goodbye,” opening August 20.
