“Boycott the Bezos Met Gala” Posters Emerge Across NYC
Posters reading “Boycott the Bezos Met Gala” have been wheatpasted across New York City ahead of the 2026 Met Gala, targeting lead sponsors and honorary co-chairs Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez. The campaign, organized by the British activist group Everyone Hates Elon, criticizes Amazon over alleged exploitation of warehouse and delivery workers and the company’s links to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) through Amazon Web Services (AWS). The group said it crowdsourced more than $10,000 in a week to fund the poster effort and released the designs as free downloadable files. The imagery includes a urine-filled plastic water bottle—referencing reports that some Amazon drivers urinate in bottles to meet quotas—and a tear gas canister labeled to highlight AWS’s role in supporting ICE data storage and deportation operations.
