Counterpublic Triennial Names 47 Artists and Collectives for Upcoming Third Edition, Including Glenn Ligon, Rebecca Belmore, Rirkrit Tiravanija

Counterpublic announced 47 artists and collectives for the third edition of its triennial in St. Louis, Missouri, running September 12–December 12, under the title “Coyote Time,” named after a commission by Alice Bucknell. The curatorial team—Jordan Carter, Raphael Fonseca, Stefanie Hessler, Nora N. Khan, and Wanda Nanibush—said the participants span material practice, time-based media, and emergent technologies addressing civic life, displacement, ecological crisis, and computation. Notable participants include Glenn Ligon, Rebecca Belmore, Rirkrit Tiravanija, Ryan Trecartin and Lizzie Fitch, Petrit Halilaj, Tony Cokes, Nicholas Galanin, and Max Hooper Schneider, with works also by late artists Juanita McNeely (died 2023) and Fluxus cofounder Benjamin Patterson (died 2016). Ligon and Belmore will anchor commissions at opposite ends of the Mississippi Riverfront, and The Ville neighborhood will host projects including works referencing Sumner High School; Frieze New York in May will also present an installation and performance by Kite in collaboration with Counterpublic.
