Crystal Bridges, fresh off major expansion, hires Courtenay Finn as next chief curator

Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Bentonville, Arkansas—fresh off inaugurating a 114,000-square-foot campus expansion earlier this month—has hired Courtenay Finn as its next chief curator. Finn, formerly chief curator and director of programmes at California’s Orange County Museum of Art (now the UC Irvine Langson Orange County Museum of Art), begins on 24 August with responsibilities spanning Crystal Bridges and its contemporary wing, the Momentary. At OCMA, she helped lead the curatorial program around the opening of the Morphosis-designed Costa Mesa building in October 2022 and secured more than 100 acquisitions; she also co-curated the 2025 California Biennial, Desperate, Scared, But Social. Crystal Bridges also named Ryan Owen chief development officer (started 15 June) and Shayne Hart chief communications and marketing officer (began in February), and Finn succeeds Austen Barron Bailly, who became deputy director of curatorial affairs in February.
