Cultural Center of the Philippines Appoints New Chief Curator, Ahead of Reopening Next Year
The Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) appointed art historian and curator Carlos Quijon Jr. as chief curator of its museum for contemporary art ahead of the institution’s planned reopening early next year, following renovations that began in 2021. Quijon has been MoMA New York’s inaugural C-MAP research fellow for Southeast and East Asia for the past two years and previously worked on the Philippine Pavilion at the 2024 Venice Biennale. CCP President Kaye C. Tinga said the hire is part of strengthening the center’s curatorial leadership for the reopening, while Quijon said he aims to advance CCP’s role in national and regional contemporary art conversations.
