Dimitris Daskalopoulos Collection Donates 51 Artworks to Four Museums in Greece and Scotland
The D. Daskalopoulos Collection announced a donation of 51 artworks to four museums in Greece and Scotland, with most works going to the Museum of Contemporary Art of Crete, MOMUS (the Metropolitan Organisation of Museums of Visual Arts of Thessaloniki), and the National Gallery of Greece, and three works going to the National Galleries of Scotland. The National Gallery of Greece will receive 29 works by Greek artists including Io Angeli, Konstantinos Andreou, Yiannis Spyropoulos, Alekos Fassianos, and Yiannis Psychopedis, spanning the 1960s through the 1990s. The Museum of Contemporary Art of Crete will receive three works by Nobuko Tsuchiya, Ioanna Pantazopoulou, and Nana Sachini, while MOMUS will receive 16 works by artists including Subodh Gupta, Seth Price, Kelley Walker, Haluk Akakçe, and Stefanos Tsivopoulos. Scotland’s national collection will receive three works, including pieces by Mike Kelley and Bruce Nauman previously shown in the 2013 exhibition “From Death to Death and Other Small Tales,” plus a work by Greek artist Margarita Myrogianni. The announcement follows earlier major gifts from Daskalopoulos, including more than 350 works donated in 2022 to EMST, Tate, the Guggenheim Museum, and the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, and six works donated in 2025 to the Guggenheim Bilbao.
