Duo Calls to Oust Leon Black in Protest Outside MoMA
Two protesters demonstrated outside the Museum of Modern Art in New York on September 22, calling for the removal of billionaire trustee Leon Black from MoMA’s board. Katie Fuller, founder of the Time & Memory Project, and her sister distributed zines outlining Black’s ties to Jeffrey Epstein and multiple rape allegations against him, none of which have resulted in a conviction, while Fuller wore a Ghostface mask and a pastel blue jumpsuit referencing Edvard Munch’s “The Scream” (1893), which Black owns in a pastel version. The protest followed a unanimous US House of Representatives vote, six days earlier, to hold Black in contempt of Congress for defying subpoenas in an Epstein investigation. The article notes that Black paid Epstein $158 million from 2012 to 2017 for financial advice after Epstein’s first conviction for soliciting prostitution from a minor. MoMA did not respond to Hyperallergic’s request for comment.
