Elvira Dyangani Ose to Succeed Koyo Kouoh at Zeitz MOCAA
The Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa (Zeitz MOCAA) in Cape Town announced that Spanish curator Elvira Dyangani Ose will become artistic director effective October 1. Her appointment concludes a 15-month search following the death of the museum’s Executive Director and Chief Curator, Koyo Kouoh, who led the institution for six years and died in May 2025. Dyangani Ose previously served as one of five women jurors appointed by Kouoh for the Golden Lion awards, and Kouoh had been named chief curator of the 61st Venice Biennale before her death. The museum said Dyangani Ose will steer the institution after the loss of its late leader.
