Former High Museum COO Pleads Not Guilty to Federal Theft Charges
Brady Lum, 59, the former chief operating officer of Atlanta’s High Museum of Art, pleaded not guilty on Tuesday in federal court to a theft charge tied to allegations he misappropriated museum funds. An internal investigation concluded Lum was responsible for misappropriating about $600,000 over several years, leading the Woodruff Arts Center to refer the matter to federal prosecutors after Lum resigned in December 2025. The US Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Georgia alleges Lum manipulated financial records, submitted altered invoices, and used delegated expense-approval authority and accounting adjustments to conceal unauthorized purchases such as high-end musical instruments, private lessons, and workshop equipment. Lum was ordered to seek employment while on bond, and no trial date has been scheduled.
