Four artists explore AI's effect on culture as part of Serpentine's new art and technology fellowship

Serpentine Gallery in London has launched the Future Art Ecosystems R&D Fellowship, a six-month research program on how advances in artificial intelligence are reshaping cultural production, institutions, and public life. The first four fellows—Alice Bucknell, Reina Mun, Alfredo Salazar-Caro, and Auriea Harvey—will each receive £10,000 plus mentorship, and will travel to London this month to begin the program. Judges include artists Refik Anadol and Cao Fei, along with Google DeepMind COO Lila Ibrahim and UCL economist Mariana Mazzucato. The fellowship is backed by Glass Castle, chaired by Quadrature Capital co-founder Suneil Setiya, and Serpentine also announced a multi-year collaboration with Formafantasma as ecology advisors, while an open-access archive display titled “processing…” runs at Serpentine South until 6 September.
