Gaudí goes viral: TikTok partners with Sagrada Familia to livestream inauguration of finished tower

TikTok partnered with Barcelona’s Sagrada Familia to livestream the inauguration of the newly finished Tower of Jesus Christ, the basilica’s tallest central tower, which will be blessed by Pope Leo XIV on 10 June at a mass attended by 8,000 guests including Spain’s prime minister Pedro Sánchez. The date coincides with the centennial of architect Antoni Gaudí’s death on 10 June 1926, though construction on the church is expected to continue for roughly another decade. TikTok España hosted a week of live broadcasts featuring creators and Sagrada Familia staff, including interviews with architects Mauricio Cortés and Jordi Faulí, and the Sagrada Familia account (@sagradafamiliagaudi) will stream the Pope’s blessing on 10 June at 6pm BST. TikTok said searches for “Sagrada Familia” from January to May 2026 were 85% higher than in the last six months of 2025, reflecting rising interest in the monument.
