In a new home, Photo London gets down to business
Photo London opened in its new venue at Olympia’s Grand Hall in West Kensington for previews on 13 May and ran until 17 May, reporting brisk early sales despite stormy weather. Paris-B Gallery sold three works to a single buyer for a total of £100,000, including two by Chinese artist Yang Yongliang, while In Camera sold Jane Evelyne Atwood’s Auto Portrait (Serpent) in both a vintage print (£13,000) and a modern print (£2,000). Dealer Robert Hershkowitz reported strong sales of works by P.H. Emerson and Frederick Fiebig shortly after the dealer’s death, and Radius Publishing said it had sold 40% of its stock by Thursday lunchtime. The fair’s prices were reported to range from £100 to £400,000, and the move from Somerset House was framed as improving navigation and creating a more business-like, “democratic” environment as Olympia undergoes a £1.3bn refurbishment scheduled to continue into 2027.
