Kimsooja Comes Full Circle
Kimsooja has returned to Toronto with “Kimsooja: Dimensions of a Needle” at the Museum of Contemporary Art Toronto (MOCA), her first Toronto exhibition in 30 years. The show surveys work from the past 20 years across video performance, architectural installation, and ceramics, centering her recurring metaphor of the needle for folding and unfolding, memory, and displacement. It includes the site-specific installation “To Breathe—Mokum” (2025–26), which occupies MOCA’s first and third floors and intentionally echoes her earlier clothesline-based installation “A Laundry Field.” The artist’s approach is framed by her philosophy of “non-doing” and “non-making.”
