Museum openings: V&A East and Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Plus, William Blake in Dublin—podcast

The Art Newspaper’s 300th podcast episode in 2024 spotlights two major museum openings: V&A East in London and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA). V&A East director Gus Casely-Hayford tours host Ben Luke through new commissions, displays, and the opening exhibition, “The Music is Black: A British Story,” ahead of the museum’s opening on Saturday, 18 April. In Los Angeles, correspondent Jori Finkel discusses LACMA’s controversial new Peter Zumthor–designed building, costing more than $700 million, with member previews beginning 19 April and a full public opening in early May. The episode’s “Work of the Week” is William Blake’s “Satan Smiting Job with Sore Boils” (around 1826), featured in “William Blake: The Age of Romantic Fantasy” at the National Gallery of Ireland, open until 19 July.
