Pace Prints Acquires Brand X Editions
Pace Prints has acquired Brand X Editions, a New York printmaking studio and publisher founded in 1979 by Robert Blanton and known for collaborations with artists including Robert Rauschenberg, Roy Lichtenstein, Frank Stella, Helen Frankenthaler, Jeff Koons, Glenn Ligon, and Mickalene Thomas. Brand X will operate under Pace Prints president and CEO Jacob Lewis—who became Pace Prints president in 2019 and took ownership in 2025—while both organizations continue running their existing workshops; the deal expands production across Manhattan and Brooklyn and supports a forthcoming Los Angeles gallery and printmaking facility planned to open this fall. Brand X partner David DeSanctis launched its publishing program in 2011, producing editions with artists such as Alex Katz, Rashid Johnson, KAWS, Adam Pendleton, Loie Hollowell, Joel Mesler, and Tschabalala Self. The studio’s legacy has been institutionalized through the Brand X Archive established in 2024 at the Philadelphia Museum of Art with more than 400 prints, followed by a museum retrospective the next year and a current screenprinting-focused exhibition at the Dallas Museum of Art.
