Top 200 Collectors Clara Wu Tsai and Joseph Tsai to Divorce After Nearly 30 Years
Billionaire art collectors Clara Wu Tsai and Joseph Tsai are divorcing after nearly 30 years of marriage, the New York Post reported on Friday, and a representative said the split is mutual and amicable. Married in New York in 1996, the couple were jointly named to ARTnews’s Top 200 Collectors list in 2018 and 2025 for their contemporary art focus. They plan to continue collaborating in business and philanthropy: Joseph Tsai will remain chairman of Brooklyn Sports and Entertainment and governor of the Brooklyn Nets, while Wu Tsai will remain vice chair and governor of the New York Liberty. Their philanthropy includes bringing works by Rashid Johnson, Tavares Strachan, and LaToya Ruby Frazier to Barclays Center, a $50 million donation in 2022 toward the redevelopment of David Geffen Hall at Lincoln Center, and the establishment of the Joe and Clara Tsai Foundation in 2014.
